Welcome to the Richmond Academy of Medicine...
Welcome to the Richmond Academy of Medicine’s website. Recently, Academy physicians identified the core principles doctors believe are vital for patient centric healthcare reform. These principles are listed below.

If you believe as we do, click here for a copy of the principles. Please sign the copy and return it to us so we can tell your elected leader in Washington what Richmond voters want.

We believe that:
  • all patients need greater access to affordable, quality healthcare;
  • a greater supply of primary care physicians is the best way to build stronger, healthier communities;
  • patients are the decision makers and have a right to know quality and pricing information;
  • modern information technology protects patient safety and eliminates inefficiencies in care;
  • a free market can best guarantee access to affordable coverage, promote consumers, and deliver value;
  • the healthcare of children, seniors, the disabled and the very poor is best guaranteed through access to government programs;
  • doctors should be rewarded for "best practices" and quality care -- not volume care;
  • all healthcare should be patient-centered, not profit driven;
  • end-of-life care in the home is compassionate but inadequate payment options exist.
I want to be counted as a supporter of the Richmond Academy of Medicine's patient centric principles for healthcare reform!

Click here for a copy of the above principles, and join us by signing the principles and return them to us by e-mail, faxing them to us at 788-9987 or mailing them to us at 2201 West Broad Street, Suite 205, Richmond VA 23220.

Thank you for visiting the Academy. We invite your comments and questions. Just click Contact Us and we will respond.
