As the future of the Affordable Care Act hangs in the balance in Washington, RAM President Dr. Harry Bear offers some timely thoughts about what he calls “the apparent confusion that clouds what is meant by ‘access to health care.’ None of this is really about access to health care; it is about the availability and cost of health care insurance and what it will cover.”

And don’t miss Dr. Isaac Wornom’s insightful column, “Culture, wellness and disease in the 21st century,” RAM Executive Director Jim Beckner’s invitation to take time for self-care this summer, and Dr. Ike Koziol’s thoughts about serving on the VCU School of Medicine admissions committee, asking, “Would I even get in today?”

You’ll also learn about Dr. Lynne Deane’s collaborative work with the Henrico Health Department tracking down the causes of disease outbreaks and other medical mysteries that sometimes confront her as medical director of the University of Richmond’s Student Health Center.
