Thank you for your interest in the Richmond Academy of Medicine (RAM) Board of Trustees. Per our bylaws, the Academy is governed by its Board of Trustees (“Board”) who has the general power to control and manage the Academy’s affairs, funds, and property, and to ensure that the purposes (mission) of the Academy are fulfilled. The Board determines the general policies of the Academy and oversee its activities.
The Board consists of elected Officers and a number of additional trustees to be determined by the Board. The Board by resolution, from time to time, determines the number of trustees to serve on the Board, which is not be less than seven (7) nor more than fifteen (15) total members. The RAM Executive Director is an ex‐officio non‐voting member of the Board.
Elections are held at the annual meeting during the month of November each year for officers or trustees whose terms are expiring. By September 1, the Governance Committee shall submit to the full Board their nominations.
The President, with the consent of the Board, shall cause a slate of officers and trustees to be distributed to active members of the Academy in September. During the month of September, active members may make additional nominations provided each nomination is supported by a minimum of ten active members.

To submit a nominee for the RAM Board of Trustees, please complete and submit the RAM Open Nomination form below by October 14, 2020. In addition to the form, endorsement of your nomination by ten Active RAM Members must also be received prior to the stated close of nominations.
Please note, a nomination is considered complete only if ten verified endorsements are received prior to the close of nominations. This is the sole responsibility of the nominator. As this process can take time, interested persons are encouraged to start early.
An endorsement may only be made by an Active Member. To be considered “verified”, an endorsement must be in writing and received by the RAM Executive Director before the close of the nomination period. A written endorsement shall include the nominee’s name, a sentence of endorsement by the nominator, the nominator’s name, address and phone number and signature. Endorsements may be made by US Postal Service to Jim Beckner, Executive Director, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Ste 200, Richmond, VA 23294 or by email to the RAM Executive Director and must be received before the close of nominations.
Open nominations for the 2021 board will close at midnight, October 15, 2020.
